Camden Town is the centre of the London Borough of Camden and is known as one of the major centres within London. The area is well known for its street markets, music venues, Regent’s Canal, Camden Locks and lively atmosphere creating an exciting residential area. Camden Market, which started in 1973, is a large tourist attraction and attracts a large number of people on a weekly basis providing a large choice for visitors to buy. Due to the increase in rents and redevelopments, retail and food chains replaced the independent shops within the area. The well-known Roundhouse Theatre is a great feature within the area providing acting and music entertainment.

Camden Town can become very busy over the weekends however the area is not too far from open green spaces and parks for visitors and residents to enjoy a more peaceful environment. Regent’s Park, Hampstead Heath and St Martin’s Gardens are a few to choose from.

The markets, attractions and large choice of shops are easily accessible by tube at the Camden Town Tube Station which is part of the Northern Line and also Chalk Farm and Mornington Crescent tube stations. Camden Road London Overground Station provides easy access to Richmond and also the Olympic site at Stratford along with the National Rail station at Kentish Town which all allow residents to easily travel around London. Cycling is encouraged within the area and is supported by several cycle routes.

Regents Canal runs through the north of Camden Town providing picturesque views and is very popular for boat trips on a warm summers day. The towpaths are also a great opportunity to view the canal by foot experiencing the history of the area and travelling between Little Venice and the Islington Tunnel. The waterbus service is a great form of transport departing every hour in the summer taking passengers towards Maida Vale and dropping off at London Zoo.

Property prices within Camden are some of the most expensive however there is a large choice of property types within the area. Large Victorian houses, low rise buildings and Georgian terraces are some of the few which are most popular. Beautiful four storey townhouses can be found on streets such as Albert Street and Arlington Road which are also close to the tube station. Camden is an area which will be affected by the high speed railway so when looking for properties within the area it is important to be aware of the construction and changes.
